Sunderland`s Andy Reid buried an injury time winner to send the Stadium of light in to raptures.

Roy Keane made two changes to the side that won at Aston Villa with both Jones and Chopra starting.

Sunderland started slowly and West Ham should have been in front when Ashton`s shot hit the post.

With warning bells still ringing it wasn`t long before West Ham were in front Ljungburg`s pile driver was defected in by Nosworthy.

It took Sunderland to go a goal down before they started to get into the game.

Sunderland made an instant reply with Jones scoring from a Richardson`s flicked on cross.

West Ham nearly regained their lead when Craig Gordon made a top draw save to deny Cole just before the break.

The second half was all Sunderland they battered West Ham`s goal as chance after chance went begging.

Murphy came closest when Jones set the young Irish man up you would bank on him scoring. Murphy shot from 6 yards out was somehow blazed over the bar.

Then with West Ham down to 10 men (Ljunberg going off due to injury) Sunderland scored the vital winner.

Edwards cross from the right was half cleared by Ferdinand for Reid to volley it in to the bottom right of Green`s goal.

Sunderland got the vital victory they deserve.

Vital Sunderland Says
Another vital victory in our fight to remain in the Premiership. I thought our chance had gone when Murphy put his effort over the bar. What a goal right at the death.
