Roy Keane made several changes to the side that faced Bolton last weekend with Leadbitter, Wallace, Fulop, Edwards and Yorke returning.

A full house at the Stadium of Light was treated to a good game of football with both sides having thee chances to win the game.

It was a Theo Walcott goal that separated the two sides with the lighting fast striker nipping in on Gilberto through ball to place his shot past Fulop.

Sunderland started the game quickly with a thunderous Edwards effort stinging the hands of Fabianski in the first minute.

Arsenal responded with Adebayor testing Fulop at close range.

Walcott soon scored his goal after Gilberto`s ball found his run into the box.

Sunderland had a good chance to equalize when O`Donovan got on the end of a Yorke cross but his shot failed to have the power to beat Fabianski.

O`Donovan had a second chance to score his first goal for the club when a Whitehead cross found him in the box just before time. However the young strikers volley was saved comfortably.

So another season draws to a close and August can`t come quickly enough. It will be interesting to see who Keane purchases to strengthen the squad in the summer.

  • I’m a Gooner who was at the game and I have to say your fans were first class as always, the conga line and let’s all have a disco were very special. Much more class than those whiny Mags. Look forward to visiting again next season.
