Every newspaper and message board has been buzzing overnight with the news that Trinidad and Tobago striker Kenwyne Jones could be leaving the club for £9m.

Stoke City have made the offer and from reports it looks likely that it will be accepted to allow him to join Tony Pullis at the Britannia Stadium.

We have no direct replacement for Jones and with the injury to Gordon and losing Hutton and Cana we are a much weaker team than last season.

It has been also reported that the money used in offloading Jones could lead to Bruce signing a couple replacements with Jones being on a large contract at the Stadium of Light.

If this news was not worrying enough, it is also emerging today that Darren Bent has pulled out of the England squad through injury.

Hopefully, it is just a precaution and he can make full fitness by Saturday or we may have to rely on young Campbell and Waghorn this weekend.
