Sunderland are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected following the clash with Millwall.

The performance by goalkeeper Jason Steele in the one all draw with Millwall at the weekend at The Den was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Steele was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Despite surrendering a one-goal lead at the Den, the Black Cats` ‘keeper made sure the visitors took a point, thanks to a number of excellent saves on his return to action.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Steele for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the point.

Full Team:

Jason Steele (Sunderland), Kean Bryan (Oldham Athletic), Mark Ellis (Carlisle United), Brad Halliday (Cambridge United), Joe Lolley (Nottingham Forest), Stefan Johansen (Fulham), Luke Russe (Bristol Rovers), Erhun Oztumer (Walsall), Patrick Bamford (Middlesbrough), Bobby Reid (Bristol City), Sean Maguire (Preston North End).

Manager – Ritchie Wellens (Oldham Athletic).
