He travelled to Sunderland to look at the Stadium of Light and the academy but dramatically turned us down for a move to London.
He was labelled as ‘greedy’ by many Sunderland fan and even laughed at by owner Ellis Short for chosing Spurs over Sunderland because of location and his girlfriends wishes.
Do we really want Crouch at our club if he is available?
I would much prefer to target Jermain Defoe who, although has had a poor last season, is capable of being the next Darren Bent on Wearside.
Steve Bruce will give Defoe the time to develop under a new team and adapt to the fans expectations but with Crouch I just feel his heart would not be in it from the start.
It is great to see Sunderland linked to two classy strikers and hopefully we can fill the gap that Bent left but we should move on past Crouch and target someone more committed to the team and cause.

As a Spurs fans I would not wish him upon any team. His awful. I wish he would just leave Premier league football altogether
I have been praying for the release of Peter Crouch, for two years. But I cannot wish him upon a club like Sunderland! Like the dark jester, I would prefer to see Peter playing outside of the Prem – maybe Germany or Turkey, yeah that is far enough …
I call that all fans get together and do whatever it takes to ensure he leaves the EPL! 🙂 seriously, his a donkey. If he joins you, I predict the phrase “for ***** sake Crouch” becoming popular among home fans in the stadium of lights.
We’ll even throw in Jenas for free!
You may as well get Crouch if you’re going for Defoe ‘cos they do well together. Crouchie isn’t ny cup of tea, either but there’s no need to be so cruel guys. You don’t want to see him in the Prem? I think he’d look great at Man u/city – Chelsea, lol… Would do well for Sunderland without a doubt.
Never thought u disliked him as much as me guys!
I would like to see Crouch at the SOL. His height would give us an extra dimension not only up front but defensively too.
But, – and its a big but, – as you rightly say: would his heart be in it?
As for Defoe. He could be out of form and another little guy. I think we should go for someone who gives us an extra dimension. If I had a choice it would be Pav from Spurs.
