Talisman Stephane Sessegnon has rightfully been voted Sunderland’s Player of the Season.

The Benin international saw off the competition of his team mates to land the prize by a comfortable margin.

Last season’s winner, Phil Bardsley, came in second place whilst goalkeeper Simon Mignolet rounded off the top three.

It’s been a brilliant first full season on Wearside for the former Paris St Germain attacker who has notched eight goals in 41 league and cup appearances.

In an equally unsurprising outcome, winger James McClean was named the club’s Young Player of the Season.

The 23 year-old Irishman, signed from Derry over the summer for just 350k, has burst onto the scene under Martin O’Neill to land the gong inside just six months.

With five goals from just 19 starts, the left-winger has become a key man in O’Neill’s side and will be off the European Championships with Ireland this summer.

The Goal of the Season award was landed by Frazier Campbell for his tremendous volleyed effort in the 3-0 home rout of Norwich City.

Finally, the Team Performance of the Season was voted as the 1-0 win over Manchester City at home on New Years Day.

Both Sessegnon and McClean will be presented with their awards on the pitch before kick off on Sunday.

Congratulations lads.
