Sunderland AFC today confirmed that chief scout Ricky Sbragia has left the club by mutual consent.

When Roy Keane left Sunderland after a home loss to Bolton, Sbragia was appointed caretaker boss and helped guide Sunderland towards safety. Upon the arrival of Steve Bruce, Niall Quinn offered Ricky ‘a job for life’ as the club’s chief scout.

After just two years in the job, the Scotsman and SAFC have parted ways. Quinn said today: ‘Ricky has been a tremendous servant to our club. He is a true footballing man and we will always be grateful to him for everything he has done for the club. We wish him all the best for the future.’

Thanks Ricky!
