The referee for Saturday’s game against Bournemouth at the Stadium of Light will be Wiltshire based Roger East.

The referee for Saturday’s game against Bournemouth at the Stadium of Light will be Wiltshire based Roger East.

East has already taken charge of two Sunderland games so far this season, the first came in the 4-1 defeat at home against Manchester City in the Capital One Cup. That evening there were yellow cards shown to City’s Martin Demichelis and the other two went to Sunderland pair Sebastian Coates and Jack Rodwell.

The other game was on the 19th December when the Black Cats went to Chelsea for a Premier League game which they lost 3-1, that day four were booked, Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic along with Costel Pantilimon, John O’Shea and Jack Rodwell again.

So far this season East has taken charge of 21 games, shown 64 yellow cards and one red. Last time out he was in charge of the 1-1 draw between Aston Villa and Leicester at Villa Park. Five yellow cards were shown.

Assistant Referees are: Stuart Burt and Derek Eaton. The Fourth Official is Andrew Madley.
