Sunderland young goalkeeper Jordan Pickford could be coming back to the Stadium of Light as boss Sam Allardyce contemplates a recall.

The 21 year old is currently at Preston North End and he has been playing out of his skin keeping nine clean sheets for the North West outfit in the Championship.

According to the Sunderland Echo, Allardyce has been keeping an eye on how Pickford is doing and is pondering giving the youngster a chance in front of Costel Pantilimon who has conceded 25 goals and only has one clean sheet to his name so far this term.

England under 21 international Pickford could make the Preston history books if he keeps a clean sheet against QPR on Saturday, that would be a club record six clean sheets on the bounce.
