Former Arsenal full-back Emmanuel Eboue has joined up with Sunderland until the end of the season and boss Sam Allardyce holds big hopes for the defender.

The 32 year old was let go by Turkish giants Galatasaray last summer and has been training with the Black Cats for a number of weeks.

But it wasn’t until last week that Allardyce let it be known that Eboue would be offered a deal with the club.

Allardyce is hoping that the player still has some of the magic in him that made him a big name at Arsenal for so many year.

The Sunderland boss told PA Sport: “It would be wrong of me to turn down a player with such great experience of the Premier League, Champions League, international football, not to think that he could play a part for us in our fight against relegation this season.

“He`s a terrific guy, a very, very good talker as well as a good player. Hopefully when the test comes, he is fit enough to cope.”

Sunderland next play on March 20th when they take on local rivals Newcastle United.
