Sunderland midfielder Jack Rodwell felt that the Black Cats had enough about them to have beaten Watford on Saturday.

The 24 year old admitted that the 1-0 reverse on Saturday was a massive setback to Sunderland who were desperate for the three points that were on offer.

According to the Chronicle Live website says that Rodwell has struggled to get into the side since joining last year due to injuries, but even so he could see that the squad was strong enough to have won the game.

He told the website: “It`s a massive setback. A win here would have kicked us up the league massively, and just built our confidence again.

“We`ve been putting a few good results together, and we took a lot of confidence from the Arsenal game, even though it was a defeat.

“We didn`t go into the game underestimating Watford, but we thoroughly believed we could get the win. But it wasn`t to be.”
