It looks like Sunderland are getting close to signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Cristian Rodriguez.
Gus Poyet has said that the Uruguay international is high on his list of targets to bring in before the start of the new season and there are rumours that the player’s agent Francisco Casal is in England to hold talks.
The 28 year old is not happy about the amount of football he is missing out on after only started 14 games in the last two years, his time looks to be up at the Spanish Champions as he has been left out of the 22 man squad that flew out to North America.
The player is said to be keen on playing in the English Premier League and while he cannot get games at club level, he did feature in all four of Spain’s games in the World Cup.
Sunderland have already signed four new players in the closed season but more are expected.
