Sunderland’s New Years Day game with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium will be officiated by Chris Foy.

Chris Foy has shown an amazing seven red cards in 14 games so far this season…

Sunderland fans will remember that Foy was the man in charge when the Black Cats drew 0-0 with Swansea at the Stadium of Light at the end of September.

In that game Foy gave out four yellow cards including one each for Billy Jones and Lee Cattermole while Swansea saw Ashley Williams receive a yellow and Spanish international Angel Rangel was shown a red with nine minutes of the game remaining.

In all competitions this season, Foy has shown 49 yellow cards and seven red from the 14 games he has been in charge of.

Foy’s assistants for the game will be Jake Collin and Andy Halliday, while the man taking on the duties of fourth official will be Graham Scott.

Let the cards flow…
