Reaching Full Fitness

Sunderland have had horrific luck with injuries this campaign and lost most of their players at some point during the season.

Steve Bruce has commented today that the only two remaining players on the treatment table, Andy Reid and Jordan Henderson look close to return.

This will allow Bruce to hopefully have a full team to pick from for the massive game on Tuesday evening against Bolton Wanderers.

Bruce said: ‘The only two injuries at the moment are Jordan and Andy. Whether they’ll both be available for Tuesday will be close.

‘Certainly Jordan is healing quicker than we thought and Reidy’s on his way back too, which will give everyone a lift.

‘Will we see them as substitutes [on Tuesday]? Possibly. We’ll have to see how they are as there’s still quite a bit of time left until Tuesday.’

This is great news for a team struggling to find the vital win to get things started again this season. If we can keep a settled back 5 for the run in and start creating chances we will look a bigger threat to opposing sides.

The team on Tuesday could be:

Gordon

Hutton Mensah Turner Ferdinand

Henderson Richardson Cattermole Reid

Bent Jones

Carson, Bardsley, Da Silva, Cana, Benjani, Campbell, McCartney

This is possibly our best team as Cana has been poor of late and Bruce has mentioned he would like to give him a rest but has been unable to due to lack of cover.

Hopefully with this team playing together and building connections on the right and left we can start seeing the form we witnessed in the opening months of the season.
