Quinn waits on Reid…

Niall Quinn is set to hear back from Spurs boss Martin Jol today to hear whether his £3m bid for Andy Reid has been successfull.

Following a failed attempt last week for both Reid and fellow teammate Callum Davenport, Quinn has gone back in with a renewed bid for the former, and is expected to hear how this has fared today.

After yet another Championship loss, it is clear that the squad needs an injection of creativity and enterprise, and it is hoped Andy Reid could provide just that. Reid would be expected to play wide left of midfield, allowing Liam Lawrence to revert back to his favoure right side, after unimpressive performances on the left.

Another player expected to add a new dimension to midfield, Arnau Riera, has still not officially signed despite being expected to yesterday. It is not known what is causing the delay to finalise the deal but the player is understood to have agreed terms and passed a medical.

Quinn told the Sunderland Echo today,

‘I’m looking to bring in two or three new players as soon as possible.

‘We’ve got our bids in and hopefully will find out about at least one of them today.

‘We know we have to improve our creativity and hopefully new players will help us to do that.

‘Riera, for example, is a busy player and hope that he will add increased drive in midfield.’
