Just a week before QPR visit the Stadium of Light, Harry Redknapp has announced his resignation as manager.

Redknapp says that the reason he is quitting is because of having to undergo knee surgery in the not too distant future.

But during the transfer deadline day yesterday he was reported to have been angry, either way, he informed Chairman Tony Fernandes that he was resigning on Tuesday morning.

Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey have taken over the running of the team on a temporary basis, Tim Sherwood is the favourite to take over on a permanent basis.

Redknapp leaves QPR second-bottom of the Premier League without a point from their away games so far this season.
