Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis left the Stadium of Light on Saturday, pleased in the knowledge that his side had given their all in his opinion.

Sunderland had ost of the play but in the usual Pulis fashion, he set his side to frustrate and soak up pressure even though they did have a chance to win the game right at the death but Kagisho Dikgacoi fluffed his big chance.

Before that, Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni was called upon a couple of times to save the visitors’ bacon as the Black Cats looked for the winner.

Pulis told the Croyden Advertiser: ‘Julian Speroni has had two proper saves to make and I am delighted with the players. They have given it everything and that is all I can ask.

‘I have just seen the chance Dikgacoi missed late on and that was probably the best of the game. We haven’t got the quality of some clubs but the players have big hearts.”

Palace now sit in 17th pace in the league, just one place and three points above Sunderland who have two games in hand.
