Sunderland defender John O’Shea has played over 100 games for the club and he says he will be playing more despite the reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

New Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to be very interested in the 33 year old who the Black Cats picked up from Manchester United in 2011.

But O’Shea told the Irish Daily Mirror that he is happy at the Stadium of Light and intends to play there for the foreseeable future.

‘It was news to myself.

‘That`s the way it goes at this time of the year, there is lots of stuff rumoured about players coming and going.

‘It`s just one of those things. It`s just total speculation.

‘I`m in the game long enough to know that and I`m more than happy with Sunderland.’
