Vital Wigan editor ‘Worbo’ joins us to help preview Saturday’s clash at the DW Stadium…

Hopes, fears & expectations for the season?

Well all our hopes are now pinned on mid-table come the end of May and an FA Cup final, seeing as we`re still going strong in the competition…Bolton at home, come on lads!

Obviously the big fear is that we cant pull ourselves up the table and get sucked into another relegation battle. We have the squad to be comfortably pushing for a top half finish, but we`ve been hammered with injuries this season and this is having a big effect on our consistency

Has this season been something of a disappointment, failing to build on last term?

It has somewhat, but here at the Latics we are a realistic lot, being a small club with a small squad is always going to make it difficult to push on to the next level, the form we showed from March onwards was nothing short of sensational, but that was never going to be maintained. Losing Moses to Chelsea didn`t help either

What crazy system does Roberto Martinez have you lining up in these days?

The fluid 3-2-2-1-1-1 I think. I don`t get bogged down too much with the systems and formations, I`ll leave that to the football coaches, but despite what you hear about us, we`re basically built around two defensive midfielders that sit and give the team a base…I think

How is Emmerson Boyce still a PL defender?

Boycey is absolutely brilliant, a club legend, a gentleman and not too bad a defender despite the fact he`s getting on a bit. No one at the Latics will ever hear a bad word said against him

He`s been excellent this season and along with Figueroa pulled us out if the poo poo on more than one occasion

Who will be your key man on Saturday?

Shaun Maloney going forward, brilliant play maker, the two Mac`s in centre mid, the James` McArthur and McCarthy and hopefully Franco Di Santo…I know thats more than one but we are a team

One player you’d drive to his next club & why?

I don`t like slagging our players off in public but if pushed I`d have to say Mauro Boselli, he came with a big reputation and an equally big price tag, just never worked out for him, free his wages up and bring in someone else is what I say.

One Sunderland player you’d sign & why?

I`d have Lee Cattermole back, always plays with his heart on his sleeve, can pass, tackle and drive the team, just needs to keep it all controlled

Any injuries/suspensions?

At the moment we have Alcaraz, Crusat, Miyaichi, Watson and Pollitt on the injury list.

Star defender Ivan Ramis ruptured his knee ligaments last Saturday at Fulham and he`s now out for the season, a massive miss he`s class

Leading goal scorer Arouna Kone is away on duty with the Ivory Coast at the African Cup of Nations, another big miss

Match prediction?

Latics 2-0 Sunderland
