Martin O’Neill was left frustrated after his side conceded two sloppy goals to deny them victory against Bolton.

A brace from Wanderers stalwart Kevin Davies, ironically a man O’Neill wanted in January, meant that strikes from James McClean and Nicklas Bendtner only earnt the Black Cats a point.

Speaking afterwords to The Official Site, O’Neill said:

‘We looked comfortable at 2-1 but we’ve given away some sloppy goals.’

The Ulsterman continued:

‘We were naïve at times and it was a slog in the last 20 minutes in terms of us trying to win the game.

‘In fairness Bolton put us under pressure in the way they operated. It was a tough afternoon, and probably that was to be expected in many ways because Bolton are fighting for their lives.

‘We should have seen it through.’

Sunderland head to west London to face Fulham next Sunday.
