O’Neill: ‘We could have scored at any stage’

Sunderland were left to rue another missed opportunity as they drew 0-0 with bottom-of-the-league QPR at home.

Bouyed by the appointment of new boss Harry Redknapp, the R’s secured an invaluable away point and clean sheet, stopping the rot somewhat in the process.

Both sides had chances in a lively encounter but neither side could make the breakthrough – a reflection perhaps of the fragile confidence levels at both clubs.

Speaking afterwards to safc.com O’Neill delivered his verdict:

“It was a difficult evening.

“I really felt that at any given stage we could have scored in the game, but it wasn`t to be,” contended O’Neill.

The Ulsterman continued by mentioning the critical ‘C’ word:

“Confidence is a big thing, we`ve been talking about it for a while now, but we`ll come through it.”

Sunderland are away to Norwich City next Sunday.
