Image for O’Neill reveals Davies interest

Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill has confirmed that he would like to add Bolton Wanderers captain, Kevin Davies, to his squad.

The 35 year-old striker has been out of favour at the Reebok Stadium this season under Owen Coyle.

Davies has one England cap to his name and had been linked with a move to the Stadium of Light in the past week as O’Neill looked to fill the ‘physical striker’ role.

However, speaking to Sky Sports News, O’Neill confirmed his intentions to make a move for the former Southampton and Blackburn hitman:

‘I did make an enquiry and Owen would obviously want to try to keep him.

‘I may well follow that up tomorrow morning.’

Whilst Davies would not cost too much, the forward is very much in the twilight of his career and out of contract at the end of the campaign.

How much impact the forward can have on Wearside is certainly questionable to my mind.
