It was being reported yesterday evening that Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill had rejected an offer from Sunderland to become our new manager.

Sky Sports were one of a number of outlets to suggest that he had no interest in the job, and although he was reportedly flattered to receive the offer, it was flat out rejected.

O’Neill has been linked with a number of jobs following the work he’s done with Northern Ireland over the last few years and he has speculated offers on the table from Scotland and the USA international sides and the suggestion is they are more appealing to him.

With the papers still linking up to Ally McCoist and Paul Heckingbottom, Heckingbottom himself has confirmed that he has not been approached so it’s a case of as we were for now.

Wales manager Chris Coleman is also mentioned and his odds have fallen.
