Martin O’Neill was left furiously disappointed as Sunderland failed to make the most of their chances at the Madesjski Stadium on Saturday as another late show from Reading stole the points.

Jimmy Kebe’s 85th minute header won a tight affair in which the Malian had also put the Royals ahead after five minutes before Craig Gardner’s 29th minute penalty levelled things up.

Speaking afterwards to the Official Sunderland Site, O’Neill conceded his disappointment at the result:

“I don`t know how we lost the game. We had a couple of great chances to win it and it`s very disappointing to be on the losing side.”

The Ulsterman continued:

“The goalkeeper made a fine save to deny Danny Graham late on and Alfred N`Diaye had a chance go wide at the near post.

“Overall we`ve lost a game with four minutes to go that we shouldn`t have lost,’ bemoaned O’Neill.

The result sees the Black Cats slip to 13th, seven points above the drop and with Arsenal visiting the Stadium of Light next Saturday.
