O’Neill: ‘Disappointed with result & performance’

Martin O’Neill was not a happy man at full-time today after watching his Sunderland side go down 3-0 at the hands of Manchester City.

The Black Cats’ unbeaten record went out the window, with Aleksandr Kolarov opening the scoring after just two minutes with a superb free-kick.

Substitute Sergio Aguero nabbed a second in the second half before James Milner wrapped up three comfortable points for Roberto Mancini’s side with a late free kick of his own.

Speaking afterwards to safc.com, O’Neill revealed his displeasure:

“I`m disappointed with the result and the performance – we should have done much better,’ conceded O’Neill.

“Manchester City can beat anybody and they can play like that on any given day, but we gave them a lot of room and time and maybe too much respect.

“They are a fine side but we gave the ball away far too easily and it was hard to recover.’

Sunderland are back in Premier League action in 14 days time as the Mags come to town for the first derby of the season.
