Martin O’Neill has today confirmed that Sunderland have accepted an offer for utility man Kieran Richardson.

The 27 year-old left-sided player revealed earlier in the month that he wanted to move nearer to his London roots and O’Neill confirmed that whilst he wished to keep Richardson, he would grant him the move.

Last night O’Neill told The Chronicle that an offer for the former England international’s services had been accepted:

“A club has made an offer for him and we have accepted that,’ confirmed O’Neill.

“If it does not materialise and he comes back I will still be pleased.

“Kieran wanted to pursue it and look at it and we accepted the offer from Fulham very late yesterday afternoon.”

Richardson had missed last night’s League Cup second round tie with Morecambe.
