Sunderland have made Tottenham Hotspur utility man Danny Rose their first capture of Transfer Deadline Day, signing the winger-cum-full-back on a season-long loan.

Rose, 22, had been linked with a double loan deal along with clubmate Jermaine Jenas a few weeks back but the England U21 international has today completed a loan move on his own.

The Doncaster born left-sider started his career with Leeds United before Spurs swooped to sign in him 2006. From there the 5`8 winger made three loan switches to Championship sides Watford, Peterborough United and Bristol City.

However it was under Harry Redknapp in April 2010 that Rose truly began to make his mark at White Hart Lane, opening the scoring on his league debut at home to Arsenal with a truly thunderous volley from outside the area.

Rose went on to play another 12 times for Spurs in the league, filling in at left-back when Benoit Assou-Ekotto was injured. Former boss Redknapp had said that if Rose were to make it as a top player, it would be at left-back he established himself.

As well as representing England at U17, U19 & U21 level, Rose was also selected by Stuart Pearce to take part in this summer`s Olympic Games.

Rose was a key component of Pearce`s side who crashed out in the quarter-finals on penalties, playing four games for Team GB.

Welcome to Sunderland Danny!
