Long-serving defender Nyron Nosworthy’s loan spell with Championship side Watford will end today meaning the defender will return to Wearside.

The 31 year-old centre back joined Sean Dyche’s Hornets in October of last year on a 93-day emergency loan and immediately improved the club’s fortunes.

Two wins from his first two game saw the Brixton-born defender cement his place in the starting XI and help the side to a run of just two defeats in 13 league and cup starts.

Nosworthy was granted permission to play in yesterday’s F.A Cup 3rd round tie with Bradford, a game the Hertfordshire outfit won 4-2, meaning his is not eligible to feature for the Black Cats at Peterborough today.

With Wes Brown, Michael Turner and Titus Bramble all at various stages of recovery from injury, the former Gillingham defender might find himself back in the first-team picture before too long out of necessity.

Nosworthy’s contract expires at the end of the season and Dyche is known to want him back at Vicarage Road.

Welcome back Nyron.
