No go for Ugo…

Middlesbrough defender Ugo Ehiogu will not be signing for Sunderland – just yet.

The Ex-England international is down in the pecking order at the Riverside since the signings of defenders Jonathan Woodgate and Robert Huth, and may look to a loan move to gaurantee first team football at this stage in his career.

The no nonsense stopper was seen in the stands at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, fuelling specualtion that he was set to bolster Keane’s defensive ranks further after the capture of Welsh international Lewin Nyatanga.

However Ehiogu is currently recovering from an achilles injury and is not set to return to full fitness for several weeks, meaning that no move is imminent, as his agent confirmed.

Steve Kutner told Sky Sports News:

‘He is just working his way to fitness but we hope he will be available to play in a few weeks,’ Kutner told skysports.com.

‘Obviously we will then look at things and a loan move might be an option, but as I said Ugo is just looking forward to getting back into training.’
