Sunderland’s new keeper Costel Pantilimon is looking forward to the up and coming season and holds no fears of relegation like the club had last season.

But he also knows, like most of us, that the four signings that have come to the club so far may not be enough and hope to see more in the near future.

Even the boss Gus Poyet is disappointed at how things are going so far in the new recruit department, especially as 12 players are no longer with the club.

There is work ongoing to try and bring in the likes of Atletico Madrid`s Cristian Rodriguez, Manchester City`s Jack Rodwell and of course Fabio Borini.

There was also hopes of signing Marcos Alonso, but that seems to look more of a non-starter with everyday that passes by.

Yet Pantilimon was certain that Sunderland was the place to come to knowing what Gus Poyet had planned for the club.

Speaking to the Sunderland Echo, the former Man City man said: “No, the results from last year didn`t worry me.

“I know that at this moment we have a good manager and good players. It didn`t scare me or anything like that.

“I remember the games against Sunderland with Man City last season. We lost the game here, drew at home and we had a difficult game in the (Capital One Cup) final after they scored the first goal.

“I came here to help this team.’
