With further disappointment for Sunderland on Tuesday evening as we lost to Bolton Wanderers, Paddy McNair has said the players have no more excuses, we have to leave everything on the pitch in each and every remaining match this season to get the club out of the mess it’s got itself into.

With Chris Coleman grasping for positives from our midweek defeat and at least trying to put a brave face on things given some signs of improvement in the performance, McNair knows it’s time for the players to give absolutely everything to salvage some pride from a pathetic season so far.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the press to preview the upcoming Middlesbrough game this weekend, McNair explained that we had to make our luck in matches turn.

‘We were the better side and they didn`t create too many chances. They had a very lucky goal, but I don`t need to go into that. It is very frustrating, but we did play well and when you are playing well the points will come. We need that little bit of luck as well.’

McNair went on to say.

‘All the lads in there have got it. We should`ve beaten Bolton, we were the better side, but it is just a hard one to swallow. We have got to give it everything for the fans because we are going into Middlesbrough on Saturday and hopefully that will be the game when our luck changes.’

Three points adrift at the bottom of the table, it is largely do or die time now and the matches and points remain for the side to do just that but it’s down to them at the end of the day.
