The referee for Saturday’s game against Swansea City is Neil Swarbrick of Lancashire.

The game is his first in the Premiership this season after taking charge of one Championship game so far, that being Brighton’s 2-1 win at Fulham last weekend and he showed four yellow cards.

Swarbrick took charge of four games involving Sunderland last season. First up was the 2-2 draw at West Brom at the start of the season, then the 3-1 home win against Stoke in October. He was in charge of the 0-0 draw at Anfield at the start of December and finally, in March, he was in charge of the 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Aston Villa.

In those four games Swarbrick showed 17 yellow cards but no red.

Assisting Swarbrick in this weekend’s game will be D Bryan and M Scholes, the fourth official will be A Taylor.
