It was being reported yesterday that manager David Moyes could still leave Sunderland if he’s handed a lower than expected budget next season but to stave off Everton interest in Jordan Pickford he’s been given a £30million transfer price.

The Daily Mail reported yesterday that Everton’s board held a meeting in London on Wednesday to discuss plans for the summer, and our highly rated England Under 21 international stopper was a top target for them.

In response to that, and speculation about Pickford has been pretty strong already, only seeing a boost when relegated was confirmed to the Championship, it’s said Sunderland have instantly planted a £30million price tag on his young shoulders to try and deter interest in him as we look to rebuild this summer.

The Daily Mail say no offer has been lodged yet, but Everton are most likely to open talks at around the £15million mark.

It’s then down to the club to decide on whether the 23 year old is more valuable on our playing staff for the coming Championship campaign or whether we should cash in to fund said rebuild.

Moyes is set to meet owner Ellis Short early next week for talks following the final days action in the top flight and those talks will determine budgets for the coming year and with most believing we need funds for at least ten players – only three players who started against Swansea City are contracted past this season – they say that Moyes will reconsider his future if he doesn’t believe he’s given sufficient funds to try and gain promotion at the first time of asking.
