The pair had a successful loan spell with the club before Christmas in which time they impressed the powers that be into offering the players 18 month contracts.
Both Oliver (midfielder) and Ferguson (defender) are 20 years old and have been out on loan to Hartlepool and Boston respectively, but never made it into the Sunderland first team.
Both players could be available for Saturday’s game against Millwall.
