A new season, a new special computer crunching the numbers to determine the final Premier League positions for 2016/17.

Fans who want to watch the Euro Club Index’s final results after each matchday can do so by clicking here.

Who goes down?! Who is the current favourite to lift the title this year.

Well you don’t have to guess, the link above will tell you, as will looking further down this piece.

With 25 games played in the Premier League season of 2016/17, the current favourite to lift the title by 87.7% are the current leaders – Chelsea.

The computer currently has them remaining in top spot, ahead of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur with a predicted points total of 87. Nine points clear in fact of Manchester City who are predicted to take second place.

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are joint on 74 points in third and fourth, with Liverpool in fifth on 72 and Manchester United in sixth on 71.

The three sides currently predicted for the drop are Hull City on 35, Sunderland on 31 and Crystal Palace in bottom place on 30 estimated points for the campaign.

With 25 games gone this year there is no fairytale repeat given Leicester City’s entirely unexpected success last season, and other sides like Chelsea hugely falling away based on their own expectations – and the top six now contains the clubs you would more naturally expect there but maybe not entirely in the order you’d anticipate.

Looking seventh place and down the table it’s also taking on a more expected appearance but Burnley predicted to be in 12th spot is probably the stand out following their promotion whilst West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City especially will be pleased with their predicted finishes as well – but they certainly aren’t alone.

The one thing that can’t be denied with us now past the half way stage is a number of clubs will now be very disappointed with where they find themselves and they’ll be looking for a significant turn of form quickly as obviously there’s a long way to go yet and plenty of points still up for grabs.

The methodology can be found on the website via the above link.
