Simon Mignolet has completed his move to Liverpool for a fee of £9m.

Sunderland would have ideally liked to have kept the Belgium international but with a new contract never going to be signed it was best that he left now when a fairer fee would have been gained, which wouldn’t have been the case next summer and would have been totally against what would have been wanted had this happened in the January window, which it could have.

Pepe Reina is expected to leave Liverpool, if he doesn’t though Mignolet might not find himself as the automatic no.1 at Anfield though, and finding a no.1 at the Stadium of Light is now Paolo Di Canio’s priority, Keiren Westwood wants this chance but I’d be surprised if it came?
