Mignolet Comfortable At Wearside

The Belgian shot stopper was called upon more than even he expected in his opening season in England.

Mignolet, 22, was scared in case his first season in English football would be difficult to adapt to but seems to have found his feet immediately.

The goalkeeper who kept an impressive 10 clean sheets said to safc.com: ‘Settling in was easy. I spoke a little of the language, which really helped.

‘I am not that far away from Belgium here – only an hour flight – and my family are quickly here too.

‘I have been made to feel welcome by everyone at the club, from the players to the supporters.

‘We have a number of foreign players who speak other languages I can speak. Everyone has been very good to me.’

With news that Coventry goalkeeper Kieron Westwood should be signed by July 1st, he will have more competition to prove to Steve Bruce he is the main man to keep the ball out of the net next season.
