A groin problem has kept the midfielder on the sidelines since the game at Aston Villa and the side has not been doing so well without him in the side.

Its hoped that Lee Cattermole might return to the team in time for Sunderland’s game against Burnley next week.

A groin problem has kept the midfielder on the sidelines since the game at Aston Villa and the side has not been doing so well without him in the side.

But the good news is that Cattermole is about to begin running again before moving onto full training next week, this does mean however that he will not be available for this weekend’s FA Cup tie against Fulham.

Charlie Oatway told the Echo: “Lee has had a couple of little niggly injuries.

“One was one that he`d been carrying for a few weeks, so it`s given him chance to give that a rest.

“He starts jogging today, and then I`m sure with the way he is as a person and a player, he should be training next week.”
