Middlesbrough will entertain Sunderland today in a training game at Boro’s training ground.

Roy Keane will be using the game wisely to look at a few players who, as of yet, haven’t been able to break into the first team.

William Mocquet, Arnau and David Connolly are all set to feature.

Mocquet, Sunderland’s summer signing from France, hasn’t played for the Black Cats yet but will be hoping to make the grade against a young Middlesbrough side.

Arnau, also from overseas, has only made two brief appearances since signing from Catalan giants Barcelona. He came on as a substitute against Southend and did well, but was sent off in the opening minutes of the game against Bury so was ruled out through suspension and hasn’t featured since.

David Connolly has been out through injury. The former Wigan man injured his thigh but is back in full training now and raring to go.

Other players hoping to get a game under their belt include: Neill Collins, Robbie Elliott and Clive Clarke.

‘You can train all you like but you can’t get a proper look at players until you see them in games,’ said Keane.

‘One or two lads are coming back from injuries and they will play, others will get the chance to impress.’
