John Mensah has received his work permit and could complete his move in time to be in the squad against Stoke tomorrow.

The Ghanaian international has been waiting for over a week to complete his loan move, which now finally appears to be imminent.

Mensah will become Steve Bruce`s sixth signing as Sunderland boss, following Lorik Cana, Lee Cattermole, Fraizer Campbell, Darren Bent and Paulo Da Silva to the Stadium of Light.

He could also signal the start of a flurry of moves, with Danny Collins, Grant Leadbitter, Carlos Edwards, Nyron Nosworthy, Paul McShane and Daryl Murphy all linked with moves away from the club, while Bruce had admitted his interest in signing Hull`s Michael Turner.

With the transfer window closing on Tuesday, it looks likely that Sunderland will be one of the busier clubs prior to the deadline.
