John Mensah has been ruled out for the past few games due to a hamstring he picked up against Stoke at home earlier this month.

Mensah will give Bruce a defensive selection headache as Anton Ferdinand also returned to full training this week.

Bruce will now have all defenders fit and raring to go to see if they can overcome the latest run of 13 games without a league win.

Kilgallon, Mensah, Da Silva, Turner, Ferdinand, McCartney, Bardsley, and Hutton are all fighting for first team selection and they have a perfect opportunity to show their ability at The Emirates on Saturday,

Bruce is facing a midfield problem as Henderson and Reid both face 6 weeks out due to injuries but he will have Malbranque back to select from.

Steed complained of chest problems and was taken to Portsmouth hospital after the away draw. However, he is now back in contention as Sunderland look to do the famous double over Arsene Wengers elite squad.

glad to hear that they are both back, hopefully we will beat arsenal and get back on track. i am quite worried we are slipping into the relagation battle!

Mensah is a brick outhouse of epic proportions, definitely a boost for Sunderland to get him back, and Steed Malbranque is of course a solid performer. It’s a good time to play us considering our shoddy defensive record and lack of organisation, and you have beaten us before. With that said, you might end up facing a backlash from an Arsenal side with pride to regain.

I’ve been very disappointed with Steed. He’s produced little in the way of goals and despite his effort, rarely finishes a full 90. As far as winning down the Emirates, who knows. The way this season’s been going, I’d not be completely surprised if we do a double on you. And then lose the remainder. Sob.
