McShane out for Three Months

Sunderland have been “rocked” by the news that Paul McShane will require knee surgery.

The Republic of Ireland international picked up the injury in the 4-0 friendly victory against Darlington on Thursday night.

Manager Steve Bruce stated: “This news is exactly what we didn`t want and now we will be without Paul for a while.”

McShane is set to be out for three months, keeping the defender out of action until October. Many Sunderland fans expected McShane to be playing for a different team by then, but news of this injury will see 23-year-old remain with the club until January at least.
