Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone has agreed a new two year deal at the Stadium of Light.

The 26 year old was offered the new deal after some quite brilliant performances last term that earned him the Player of the Season gong.

Mannone joined the Black Cats last summer and quickly took over the number one shirt on a regular basis. His contract was originally for one year with an option of the club extending that a further two years which they have done.

Sunderland announced the signing of free agent Costel Pantilimon earlier this week, now the two will do battle as to who will be number one choice between the sticks.
