vDefender Kader Mangane has stated his intention to stay at Sunderland beyond the end of his loan deal, due to expire at the end of the season.

The 29 year-old centre-back admits he is keen to remain at the Stadium of Light beyond the expiry of his loan spell from Al-Hilal.

Speaking to The Shields Gazette, Mangane stated his intentions:

‘Listen, I`m going to give everything while I`m here to stay beyond the summer.’

The Senegalese international is currently building up his match fitness and Martin O’Neill admits the 6’5 defender is a ‘week or two’ away from being fit enough for selection.

‘There was a problem right up until the eleventh hour with his international clearance, and although it did come through late on I had already made my mind up about what I was going to do,’ O’Neill told the Sunderland Official Site.

O’Neill continued:

‘Kader`s been in training this week and has been working pretty hard. It`ll be a week or two before he`s fit but we hope he can play his part.’

Mangane also admitted that he ‘nearly’ joined West Ham last term but the move did not come about and now the former Rennes defender is pleased to be on Wearside:

‘This loan for me is perfect and I`m happy to be here,’ enthused Mangane.
