Roberto Mancini officially wants to become the next manager of Sunderland.

Mancini has been out of work for the last year, since guiding Inter Milan to a third successive title, and would relish a return to management in the Premiership.

In a statement to Sky Sports News, Mancini declared:

‘I am very flattered to be linked with the vacant manager’s job at Sunderland,

“It would be an honour to manage such a prestigious and historic club in the Premier League.

‘I have enjoyed a year out following winning the Scudetta on three consecutive occasions.

‘Having completed a year of media commitments I’m now ready to return to full-time management.’

‘Ideally I would like that to be in the Premier League. I want to test myself against the very best.’

So there you go Quinny, our next manager is waiting for the call. And considering some of the managers Sunderland have appointed in recent memory (I`m talking about you Sgt. Wilko), a manager of Mancini`s pedigree is something that Sunderland fans have been dreaming of.
