Sunderland came seconds away from a famous away victory last season as they led 2-1 until the closing stages at Old Trafford.

We need another massive display like last year to keep our run of form going. It is going to be hard to get anything from this game but with Gyan and Bent up front anything is possible.

This is going to be a tough period of games and if we can avoid a big defeat and even get a point that would be massive for our league targets.

Vital Quotes: Gyan

‘This will be my first-ever visit to Old Trafford and I have been waiting a very long time for it,’ Gyan told Sky Sports.

‘I have supported Manchester United since I was a small boy and my hero was Eric Cantona.

‘I hope I can score a goal for Sunderland against them because that would mean so much to me and my family.

‘But I will also try and swap shirts. That will definitely happen although I don’t know whose shirt I want. Any player.’

He added: ‘We are telling each other that if we can do it at Stamford Bridge, we can do it at Old Trafford.

‘Of course, we respect United, but we are also capable of going there and picking up a win.

‘Last season, Darren Bent was the only one scoring goals, but now there are three of us. We are playing as a team, not one man, and that’s why everything is working.’

Manchester United Team News:

Vidic and Anderson will both be back for Sir Alex after recovering from flu like symptoms.

Player to watch: Wayne Rooney

If any player has went a spell of games without scoring and then face Sunderland, you know what is going to happen…they will bag a hat-trick!

Rooney looks to be getting back to his old ways in terms of form and fitness, but let’s hope he has another dry day in front of Gordon tomorrow.

Sunderland Team News:

Sunderland have injury and suspension problems all over their squad.

Cattermole is banned for one game, Welbeck cannot play against his parent club and five others are missing through injuries.

Bramble, Mensah, Turner, Meyler and Campbell are all out with injuries so Bruce will have to make changes across the team.

It is suggested Ferdinand will play with Onuoha at the back and Elmo drafted in to the right back slot. Zenden and Steed Malbranque should also feature in midfield.

Player to watch: Asamoah Gyan

With Welbeck being unable to play against his parent club this will allow Gyan to partner Bent up front.

Gyan has been a great addition to the club and as a massive Man Utd supporter this will be a moment he would love to take as his own.
