Ipswich boss Jim Magilton has confirmed his interest in Tommy Miller, but a move is not imminent.

Tommy Miller has not featured under Keane so far and is not thought to be part of the Irishman’s plans at the club. And with Ipswich and Southampton among interested clubs, it is expected that Miller’s tenure on Wearside will not last for much longer.

However while Magilton told his club’s website that he is interested in signing the midfielderr, personal reasons mean that a move is not likely to happen just yet:

‘Tommy is out of the whole set-up at Sunderland at the moment and is only playing reserves games there.

‘His wife has just given birth to twins and his attentions are squarely with his family – and rightly so – so he is not going anywhere in the immediate future.

‘We are always going to be linked with him, but certainly, if he did become available and wanted to move on, we would look seriously at bringing him back here.’

Miller’s contract runs out at the end of this season and it is likely that Sunderland would allow him to move on a free transfer. However a move in January for a nominal fee is likely to be the most probable outcome.
