Sunderland have sent a number of youngsters out on loan on the eve of the beginning of the Football League season.
Highly touted prospects Martyn Waghorn and Jack Colback have joined Championship sides Leicester and Ipswich respectively until January. Waghorn has made a few appearances in the Premiership for the Black Cats, all against the big four clubs, while Colback will be again hoping to make his senior debut in a side managed by Roy Keane.
Jean Yves M`Voto has joined League One side Southend, also until January. M`Voto, 19, has not made an appearance for Sunderland since his move from Paris Saint Germain, but the defender has impressed during pre-season.
Darlington have signed striker David Dowson and midfielder Jamie Chandler, initially for a month. Neither player is really near the first team picture at Sunderland, so it would not be surprising for the loan deals to be extended at the end of that period.

Waghorn came off the bench to equalise for us today. We went on to win 2-1! Very impressive debut, hope he can keep up the good work.

Bruce will keep things very clear on the training ground. I don’t think Sunderland can afford any passengers next season. Anything less than 46 points will be a disaster — anything more will be a breakthrough. At the end of the day it’s the points that count.
