Midfielder Seb Larsson has called on Sunderland to get a quick start in this weekend’s game against Everton.

Heading to Goodison Park for the encounter, Larsson pointed to our match against Crystal Palace and how the early goal had helped us to the four nil victory on the day and that was exactly the same kind of repeat performance he wanted going into this one.

Speaking to the Official Site Larsson admitted that the opening goal would be key in this fixture, as a bright start doesn’t guarantee anything as we saw in the Southampton match.

‘If you look across all the games the opening goal is very important, and probably if you look at our games this season even more so. We feel like if we can get in front we can stay solid, stay strong and be tough to break down, but unfortunately a too few many times we haven`t been strong enough when we`ve fallen behind.’

Larsson went on to say that starting brightly and getting the opening goal is clearly something we have to improve upon, especially as this season we have again fallen behind on too many occasions, so if we can get the mix right this weekend then it would be a big boost of confidence for everyone.

‘That`s something we have to improve; we have spoken about how important it is to keep clean sheets and that is key for us. It is a tough run of games but looking back at previous seasons, at this stage, strange things happen and we`ve picked up many points in games where many people haven`t back us. Let`s hope that can happen again because the belief is there that we`re going to sort this situation out and stay in the league. We won`t stop fighting until the end.’
