Sunderland had to settle for a 0-0 draw at Craven Cottage this afternoon as we couldn’t quite break down a stubborn Fulham.

Two changes before the game as David Meyler started his first game for over 6 months in place of Asamoah Gyan, who had to settle for a place on the bench. Simon Mignolet played in place of Craig Gordon.

The first half started with Fulham doing all the running but Sunderland came in to the game a lot more and bossed posession for the most part. Anton Ferdinand had to be subbed minutes into the game with a hamstring pull and Elmohamady moved to right back, allowing Nedum Onuoha to move inside with Mensah. The away sides midfield was breaking up play well but the pass to Bent or Welbeck up front was continually poor. Half chances were all we had to show for a decent half.

The forward play improved in the second half, but so did Fulhams. The home sides balls in to the box were excellent at times and the best chance came when a scramble in the box ended with a good save from Mignolet.

Immediately, Sunderland countered and Darren Bent’s pass for Gyan, on in the 2nd half, was too long and a good chance went begging.

All in all, a decent point but maybe an opportunity missed for three points against a below par Fulham team.

Final Score: 0-0
